Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th, 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Her professional career started in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and reelected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and campaigned for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, an opportunity to become a citizen for undocumented immigrant immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
